What kind of image works best?

A sharp frame in the ratio the video will use, with a clearly lit subject. Busy backgrounds make motion harder to read.

Can I animate a photo of a real person?

Only with their permission. You must hold the rights to any likeness you upload. Rejected renders are not charged.
